Industrial Waste Treatment Plant:
Chip manufacture requires large quantities of water. Most of this is used for chip cleaning between process steps. This rinse water picks up acids, bases and some organics which, while dilute, cannot be sent into local drains.
The site thus contains its own waste treatment plant. Acids or bases can be added to the waste water to return its pH to a normal value of 7. Organics or solids can be filtered or concentrated for separate safe disposal.
